New in 1958, the Magnecordette 101 Stereo recorder was a moderately priced semi-professional portable unit requiring external stereo amplification and speakers for playback. Features included dual record-playback preamplifiers mounted on one chassis; separate gain controls for each channel plus one master control for record and playback. A mono-stereo switch and recording indicator light were located on the transport section along with the tape transport controls. Two VU meters were provided for accurate record level setting and the unit was capable of playing up to 7" reels at either 7½ or 15 ips. |
| Magnecord made a matching speaker-amplifier unit (Model 110) in a portable case priced at $US 129.95. (Two were needed for stereo playback). More images on the CD-ROM |
